“BREASTFEEDING: Foundation of Life”
What the Experts Want You To Know
It’s world breastfeeding week!
A week to raise awareness and celebrate the wonderful thing that is breastfeeding. The most natural and beautiful thing for a mother and her baby.
While breastfeeding can be a difficult time for new mums, with feelings of fear, guilt and confusion going into overdrive. It shouldn’t have to be this way, as breastfeeding is one of the most natural things in the whole world. Regardless of whether you’re a first-time mother, a mother who has breastfed multiple times, or a mother with other kids who has chosen to breastfeed her present newborn child, there is constantly more to learn.
Here, we discuss a few of the items that the experts want you to know:
- The Birth Crawl
For your first feed after birth, let your baby find and latch onto your breast on his own. It is known as Birth Crawl. It is used to describe a baby’s first feed at the breast. The birth crawl” is the point at which the child pulls herself to your breast when laid on your chest to lock on and feed for the first time. This occurs within the first half hour of the child’s life.
Breastfeeding support may be offered at the hospital during the first few times your baby feeds, and it is advisable you should take it.
- Forget About Scheduling
When you initially bring home your little dear baby, you might be hoping to set a schedule for sleeping and eating that makes things easier on your life. Spare yourself from headaches and forget about the schedule. Feed your child when they first wake up and let them rest when tired. You’ll have the capacity to get them onto a timetable, but establishing flow works best when you feed them as they are hungry. This gives your body an idea of how much milk it needs to create. Focus and understand that if your child is crying, they are already very hungry so try and learn when they like to eat before they get to that point.
- Latching On
You’ll hear a lot of breastfeeding tips about getting your baby to latch on but what the specialists will let you is that each child is unique and different. Listen to note the sounds they make and the rhythm of them suckling and if you notice some changes or something that doesn’t feel right, you can utilize these notes when you look for breastfeeding support from a lactation expert.
- Get Comfortable
The most important thing you could do to make breastfeeding easier and more enjoyable for both Mom and baby is to make sure you both are comfortable every time.
