Inside the IVF Journey: What Really Happens at Every Stage of Treatment
If you’ve ever searched for IVF online, you may have felt overwhelmed. Medical words, complicated steps, and too much information can make it feel scary. But the truth is IVF is a carefully planned process, and understanding it can make the journey feel much easier.
At Shrikhande Fertility Clinic, we believe that when you understand what’s happening, you feel more confident and in control. So let’s walk through the IVF journey step by step.
Step 1: The First Consultation
Everything begins with a conversation. We review your medical history, past reports, and any previous treatments. Blood tests, scans, and semen analysis are done to understand the exact cause of infertility. This helps us create a personalised treatment plan just for you.
Step 2: Ovarian Stimulation
In a natural cycle, a woman produces one egg each month. In IVF, we gently stimulate the ovaries using hormone injections so they produce multiple eggs. This increases the chances of success.
You’ll visit the clinic for regular scans to monitor progress. This stage usually lasts about 10–11 days.
Step 3: Egg Retrieval
Once the eggs are ready, a minor procedure is done to collect them. It is done under mild anesthesia and usually takes 15–20 minutes you go home the same day.
At the same time, a semen sample is collected from the male partner.
Step 4: Fertilization in the Lab
This is where science supports nature. The eggs and sperm are brought together in a special IVF lab. Fertilization happens either naturally in a dish or through a technique called ICSI, where a single sperm is injected into the egg.
Over the next few days, the fertilized eggs grow into embryos under careful monitoring.
Step 5: Embryo Transfer
Day 3/Day 5 , one healthy embryo (sometimes two, depending on the case) is placed into the uterus. This is a simple and painless procedure no surgery is needed.
Now comes the most emotional part the wait.
Step 6: The Two-Week Wait
After 14-15 days after the transfer, a pregnancy test is done. This waiting period can feel long and stressful, but you are not alone. Emotional support during this stage is just as important as medical care.
What IVF Really Means?
IVF is not just a medical treatment. It is a journey of hope, patience, and courage. While it involves science and technology, it also involves heart.
Modern IVF is safer, more personalised, and more advanced than ever before. Success rates have improved because of better lab systems, improved medications, and careful monitoring.
At Shrikhande Fertility Clinic, we guide you through every stage explaining, supporting, and standing by you.
IVF may feel complex from the outside. But step by step, with the right team beside you, it becomes a journey filled with possibility and sometimes, that journey ends with the most beautiful beginning of a new life.
