The Role of Mobile Apps in Pregnancy Process
Somewhere last week after diagnosing a patient and while prescribing her the medication, she popped out her smartphone and showed me an app that will let her get pregnant, after viewing the app and going through it eagerly, I was shocked to see that it was greatly misleading. Nowadays our smartphones can do just about anything. They can remind us of events, wake us up, and entertain us, speak to us. Then there are these apps that claim to help you get pregnant, but is it possible for an app to help a woman to conceive? Can a mobile app help us take the steps to get pregnant? Does health mobile app have a role in the pregnancy process?
It’s easier said than done. Getting pregnant has to do more with the individual’s body and the way it behaves to body changes while getting prepared or during the pregnancy process.
Smartphone apps role in pregnancy process
In spite of all the research that has been done on pregnancy, we only have the understanding of how the life begins. Most women choose to let their bodies handle what they do best; after all, we are made for procreation. The question seems to be how much health mobile technology should be allowed?
When you are taking the steps to get pregnant, mobile apps can have a limited role. An app can only help to track fertility cycles, in theory, but it cannot help you to get a good idea of how your body works. It will only help you to calculate some numbers. It is not a way to get to know your body and how it works.
Limitation of mobile app technology
The limitation of health mobile app technology is determined by each individual. It can only work if the physical body of the person goes by what science considers normal. For example, it is thought that a woman runs on a 28-day menstrual cycle. A woman’s body should, by this theory, ovulate every 14 days. The limitation of the mobile app is going to be evident when you realize that this theory has been proven false by many women. An app cannot make up for that. Therefore it is not going to work in the first steps of getting pregnant.
The role of Gynaecologist
The role of a gynaecologist is to watch over the pregnancy and to educate the woman to learn from her own body. They help the woman overcome some of the emotional as well as psychological challenges that are associated with pregnancy.
A gynaecologist can teach a woman the signs that indicate fertility. They can also show a woman how to use technology in a way that is tailored to her individual needs. It is only a gynaecologist who can advise and teach what technology to use and how to listen to her own body & respond.
The best practice
The best way to understand the steps to get pregnant is to understand what health mobile app technology’s role in pregnancy process is. It is about integrating both a technical aspect and a good physician. You can balance them by having open communication about what apps you want to use and what apps they suggest. The best practice is going to be to take in all the knowledge you can about your body from your doctor and then find an app that will best meet your individual needs.
The steps to get pregnant can be very stressful. It is a process that doesn’t always seem to make sense. That is where technology and your doctor can work together to help you to understand and simplify the process.
Technology has a new role in pregnancy. It is one aspect of human life that hasn’t been completely overwhelmed by technology. It is about having a healthy pregnancy and baby.
In our view, health mobile apps role in pregnancy and the steps to get pregnant are very limited. Mobile apps can only supplement doctor’s advice for follow up purpose but it cannot be relied upon as a sole means to manage women health and that includes pregnancy too. Every case is unique -doctors’ advice is based upon your case and therefore it is imperative to visit a doctor for getting personalized advice. We cannot have a generalized plan of action for sensitive issues like getting pregnant. In a nutshell, it is all about knowing and respecting your body, so that you are giving technology its rightful place in every aspect of your health and pregnancy.
