What this actually means? The dictionary tells us that it means being good, considerate, helpful, loving and humane. Most of the people believe in kindness, but don’t relate it to our health. Most books and discussion forums talk about the minute details that normally leave more people in believing that healthy living is more to do with a disciplined life.
And then you have these models who show off their before and after photos and talk about the inches lost, gained confidence and the perfect blend of diet and exercise. We are also advised to count every calorie we take in analyse what we are eating and drinking.
No wonder people give up and go for the extra large bag of chips and give up their exercise goals. Too many messages about healthy living showcase the idea that it is just not really enjoyable, and generally not achievable.
The idea of taking care of health and following a healthy diet is not a bad idea and everyone should go for healthy eating. The problem begins when we overlook to apply the rule of kindness in the entire process. In reality, health refers to the condition of the body or mind with reference to vigour and vitality. And to a greater extent, it is related to happiness.
The significance of Self-Love.
When kindness is missing, we start harming the real meaning of a healthy body through self-hate, body shaming, critical judgment, and unrealistic principles. This means that we lose the joy and we are not happy.
One should understand that even though you are fit and follow a healthy diet, if you are not happy you are not healthy.
Being kind to your body.
Being kind just means that you don’t have to look a certain way to be worthwhile. Being kind simply means listening to your body needs like, when it needs food, when it needs some exercise and when it wants to relax.
Being kind means to put an end to the comparison that leaves you feeling guilty, disappointed, or weak.
Enjoy Doing Things like:
- If you have a craving for a chocolate just go and have it. It is ok to have one occasionally.
- Missing your workout schedule to play with your kid.
- Take a day off from the workout and have some homemade snacks and read a book.
In simple words being kind means balancing all the things. Not overlook your body and its needs, but also not overlooking the other aspects of life, also. There are other things that fuel our body, mind, and spirit. Working-out and diet are only a part of it.
When kindness is not given much importance.
We have started looking our food as a religion, exercise as a discipline, and our body into a consumable image. As there are innumerable websites, books, and articles devoted to making people healthier but hardly anyone addresses our ability to prioritize all of the human needs and desires. They forget that we really need to be connected. They forget that we long to feel loved.
If you choose to be kind to yourself and take actions for self-love, you will begin to accept and love yourself more. It is true that you can only love a person as much as you love yourself. The more self-love you have for yourself, the better prepared you are for healthy life. Even more, you will start to attract people and circumstances to you that support your well-being.
